Publishers Description: A narrative account of the main battles fought on British soil between 1066-1746, together with an assessment of the commanders and their strategies, plus an analysis of the historical background and results of the battles. The work is in two volumes, the first covering the period from the Battle of Hastings in 1066 up to 1547 and the second covering the battles from the beginning of the English Civil War until the Battle of Culloden in 1746. A guide to the location of all the battlefields is given and this is supplemented by a table set out under different counties. The aeriel photographs are keyed with the positions of the troops during the battles and battle-plans and drawings showing weapons development are also given. There are also synopses of the battles of the Wars of the Roses and of the battles of the English Civil War. William Seymour is also author of "Ordeal by Ambition".
