1. Marlowes Books is an Australian registered business. We are an online retailer offering New, Used, Rare, Out of Print, Collectible and Hard to Find Books for direct sale via our website www.marlowesbooks.com
2. All items available on our site which do not have the term stated "New" or "Brand New" are used.
Marlowes offers not only new titles, but a great range of used books. These have been checked thoroughly and we endeavour to list these as accurately as possible, to meet and exceed all customer expectations. We carefully inspect every used book at the time of listing for any defects that may be present and detail this in the books (description) associated with the listing. All photographs of our used books are the actual item listed. Photographs may not be to scale and are the property of Marlowes Books. We use a set of standard terms to describe our used books.
New: A book is brand new and never used.
As New: A book has been read once or twice, but has no real defects and appears almost new.
Fine: A book has been read once or twice, but has a very minor shelf/reading wear and is almost as new in condition.
Very Good: Book has been read a few times, but with no major defects. It can contain some minor reading/shelf wear.
Good: Book has general wear, but is still clean and very presentable.
Fair: Book has considerable wear, may have some small pieces missing from jacket, but is complete with defects mentioned.
Poor: Book has considerable wear and marks, could have small pieces missing from jacket, all defects are mentioned.
These grades are subjective but as stated above all defects should be mentioned at the time of purchase. We also supply an image with our listings to help you assess the quality and condition. If your order arrives and is not as described. Please visit our Returns page.
3. Availability and Cancellations:
Availability. All items that we list on our site and other online venues are available with many being in stock locally. It can happen in rare cases that we receive an order for the same title via another site we list our inventory on moments before an order on our site is received. This in turn can result in an order cancellation. You will of course be contacted and refunded in full if we can no longer can supply. We will however do our best and with-in reason to fulfil your order. This can however not be guaranteed and a refund will be issued. Marlowes Books also reserves the right to cancel a purchase if we have received the following from an individual - Threatening or Abusive phone calls and/or emails. Previous purchases from us which have been fraudulently and claimed as missing parcels. Non-paying customers from previous orders, Individuals which cause a negative experience for other customers and our staff. These individuals have been stored by us and are regarded as (Black-Listed) hereafter.
Cancelations. Cancelations in many cases are not possible due to the speed and automation of our order processing functions. Any request to cancel automatically will transfer to a Return and rules which apply to a return will also apply to a cancelation request. For returns and cancelations please visit our Returns Page.
4. Security: We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information. We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted.
5. Postage - The Greatest amount of care has been taken by us to make sure your parcel arrives on time and in perfect condition.
5a. Marlowes sources many postage companies to deliver our products. The times and services quoted by us is an estimate provided to us from these companies. Marlowes has limited liabilty with delivery times due to these companies being different entities. Small delays can occur, especially during peak times. Your order is dispatched usually with-in one business day from the time of your payment being received. However as stated above, circumstances can happen which are out of our control. We welcome your contact with any problems or delays which have occurred.
5b. Delivery Times. We estimate the following delivery times,
Regular Australian Post – 3 to 6 working days.
Express Australian Post – 1 to 3 business days when your address is located on the Australia Post Express network. Addreses outside this area will take longer.
**International Destinations – 7 to 14 working days.
* small delays can occur during peak times..
**Some titles are not available for international customers. Our International rate is based on 1kg. We may request more postage for some international orders if your order is more than 1kg.
