Publishers Description: This collection of four plays brings together the work of three Australian playwrights, each of whom is deeply involved in the 'new wave' of dramatic writing which has caused a quiet revolution in the Australian theatre over the last five years.Alexander Buzo's The Front Room Boys was first performed in Sydney in 1969. It formed part of the Perth Festival in 1970 and was produced at London's Royal Court Theatre in 1971.White With Wire Wheels was Jack Hibberd's first play, written and first performed in 1967. Since that time it has been revised several times and successfully revived in Sydney 1971 and in 1972 at the Independent Theatre. Who? was written and first performed in 1968 as part of a Sydney season of short plays called Brainrot. It was presented at the 1970 Perth Festival by the Australian Performing Group.Chicago, Chicago by John Romeril was originally entitled The Man from Chicago and was performed under that title at La Mama, Melbourne, in 1969 and at the Perth Festival in 1970. As printed here, the play differs substantially from earlier versions and was one of the first plays performed by the Australian Performing Group at the Pram Factory theatre in 1971.With an introduction by Graeme Blundell
