Publishers Description: David Doyle is no ordinary CIA officer, having not set foot in America until the age of twenty-one. Born in England to American parents, he served in both the British and the US armies before being recruited into the wartime Office of Strategic Studies to see action in France, Belgium and Germany. When the CIA was created in 1947, he joined what was to become the Clandestine Service and was soon undertaking operations on post-colonial Africe and the Far East. These memoirs not only recount his wartime service and his early years working for the CIA in America, but also recall his unique experience of running CIA stations in the newly independent Congo, Burundi and Senegal in the 1960s, during a time which included the murder of Patrice Lumunba, the Congos first Prime Minister, and growing Communist infiltration into the area.
