Publishers Description: Living the dream
In 1996, five friends from the suburbs of Brisbane, Australia, all on the wrong side of forty, driven by an unfulfilled rock'n'roll dream, formed a band and booked themselves a tour of Europe.
With a little help from a few friends, a few overseas contacts, a repertoire of good songs and the knowledge that the Fat Lady was doing a vocal warm-up they set off for Amsterdam and the beginning of a fantastic adventure which would change their lives forever.
They were totally unknown yet they became the first Australian band to play at music festivals in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Estonia. Their debut album, Better Red Than Dead, became album of the week on 2FM, Ireland's biggest rock station. They played before big crowds in London, Paris, Nuremberg Square, The Montreux Jazz Festival, Sweden and Estonia plus The National, Woodford and Tamworth in Australia to name a few. In doing so they wrote themselves a page in the annals of international music.
We Baby Boomers were there when it all began and the magic has never left us. If you love to howl in the shower or have ever wanted to get in front of that microphone just once to sing that one song or do your Elvis impersonation just once before you kick off, you will love this story. The triumphs, the failures and the sheer bloody exhilaration of still doing it.
It's only rock'n'roll but we bloody love it!
